MISSION GAME ON! Header (1500 x 500 px) playing by the rules

What is MISSION: GAME ON?

MISSION: GAME ON! is a community initiative led by the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce with support from Community Futures North Fraser designed to help Mission businesses and organizations benefit from increased regional tourism and local excitement during summer 2026.
We’re keeping it practical:

  • small micro‑grants to help cover event costs
  • an online event hub so people can find you
  • plain-language guidance so your event promotion stays compliant

Play by the Rules to Promote Your Event

Brand & Public Viewing Compliance Guidelines*

We want your place packed and your marketing stress-free. FIFA takes their brand protection seriously, especially for world class events. Know what's available to you and what's protected to celebrate worry-free! The main idea is simple: you can host match-day gatherings, but you can’t make it look like your business or event is officially affiliated with FIFA or the tournament unless you have the proper rights. These brand protection rules apply to everything: your signage, social media, website, emails, newsletters, printed menus, table tents, giveaways, and any other way you communicate internally or with customers.

PRE-GAME ESSENTIALS:

  • If you plan to charge admission for your event or get a sponsor for your event, you MUST get a Public Viewing License for FIFA World Cup 2026™.
  • Businesses cannot say “FIFA”, “World Cup”, “FIFA World Cup 26™” anywhere in any promotions whether they are printed or via radio, etc. FIFA’s IP is reserved exclusively for FIFA rights holders and Commercial Partners. This includes: FIFA Partners, FIFA World Cup Sponsors and FIFA World Cup Tournament, FIFA World Cup 26™ Host City Supporters and Promotional Partners, e.g. Destination BC and Destination Vancouver, FIFA World Cup 26™ and Host City Government Funding Partners.

Do

  • Use generic wording like: “soccer match night,” “international tournament viewing,” or “summer soccer watch party.”
  • Use generic visuals (soccer balls, flags, team colours) that don’t copy official logos, emblems, mascots, or trophy imagery.
  • Promote your venue experience: food/drink specials, reservations, accessibility, and respectful fan behaviour.
  • Confirm what permits you may need (especially for outdoor screens, amplified sound, patios, or liquor service changes).

Don’t

  • Use FIFA logos, official tournament marks, emblems, mascots, or trophy imagery in ads, posters, menus, or social graphics.
  • Name your event with “FIFA,” “FIFA World Cup,” “World Cup 2026,” or anything that sounds “official.”
  • Suggest you’re an “official” partner, host venue, sponsor, or endorsed location (unless you truly are).
  • Run ticket giveaways or promotions involving match tickets unless you have explicit authorization.

* Licensing note (important stuff!):
FIFA has specific Public Viewing rules. Some events need a formal Public Viewing licence (for example, if you charge admission, bring in sponsors, or plan a large-scale public screening). The safest place to start is the FIFA Public Viewing Platform, which explains categories and how to apply.

*This is general guidance only. Each business/event is different so please confirm your specific licensing, permits, and legal requirements.

How to Get Involved

  • Pick your event style (in-house viewing, patio viewing, or a bigger community-style screening).
  • Confirm your plan (capacity, permits, licensing, and safe marketing wording).
  • Apply for a micro‑grant.
  • Get listed on the online hub.
  • Host a great event then send your quick recap (if you're selected for a grant, we'll send you a form).
